Hilary Martin '98, '04L was a cornerstone of Washington and Lee University’s volleyball team, earning four letters from 1994 to 1997. A four-time All-ODAC selection, she led the Generals to their first ODAC championship and was named ODAC Player of the Year after her sophomore season. Serving as team captain during her junior and senior years, Martin guided the team to 96 overall wins and 35 conference victories, culminating in another ODAC crown in her senior season.
Martin’s leadership helped launch a dominant era for W&L volleyball, with the 1997 championship marking the beginning of 11 titles in 12 years. Her individual achievements are equally impressive; 27 years later, she still holds the program record for single-game hitting percentage (.867, 1995).
In the program’s record books, Martin still ranks fourth in single-game blocks (10, 1996) and sixth in career serving percentage (.950). She also stands seventh in career hitting percentage (.295), ninth in single-game kills (24, 1995), and tenth in career blocks (262).
