Kendall Korte ’08 was the first All-American in the history of the field hockey program at Washington and Lee.
Korte earned four letters with the Generals, serving as a team captain for her final season. She was a true all-around midfielder, helping the W&L offense and defense both rank among the best in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and beyond.
She was a three-time First Team All-ODAC selection and she was named the ODAC Player of the Year following each of her final two seasons. She was also a three-time First Team VaSID All-State honoree and she was twice named First Team All-South Region.
Korte started at midfield all four years and made an immediate impact as a first-year, totaling five goals and one assist. She established herself as one of the conference’s best players as a sophomore, helping lead the Gener-als to their first conference title and NCAA Tournament berth in program history. She finished the season ranked second on the team in scoring with 26 points on eight goals and a school-record 10 assists.
As a junior, Korte earned her first ODAC Player of the Year citation after finishing third on the team in scoring with 20 points on six goals and eight assists. She finished second on the team in scoring as a senior, notching 19 points on seven goals and five assists. She added another ODAC Player of the Year accolade and she was later named Third Team All-America by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
An NFHCA Senior All-Star in 2007, Korte graduated holding the pro-gram record for assists (24), while also finishing second all-time in points (76) and third in goals (26). She also graduated with program records for goals in a game (4), assists in a game (3) and points in a game (8).
