Whitney Parker ’98 was one of the finest women’s lacrosse players in Washington and Lee history.

Parker was a four-year letterwinner for the Generals, serving as a team captain for her senior season.  She played in 60 of a possible 61 games during her career, starting every game in which she played.  The midfielder finished with 91 career points on 77 goals and 14 assists, to go along with 194 ground balls.

As a rookie in 1995, Parker started all 15 of the team’s games as a defensive wing player, totaling nine goals and collecting 40 ground balls as the Generals finished 10-5 overall.

Parker moved to the midfield as a sophomore, starting all 14 games and posting 12 points on nine goals and three assists, to go along with 28 ground balls.  Following the season, she was named Second Team All-ODAC and Second Team All-South Atlantic Region for the 9-5 Generals.

During her junior campaign, Parker started all 16 games, totaling 25 points (21 G, 4 A) and picking up 54 ground balls while recording a team-best 12 interceptions.  W&L finished the season 12-4 overall, advancing to the ODAC title game.  Parker was named First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State, First Team All-South Atlantic Region and Second Team All-America.

As a senior, Parker helped lead the Generals to their first ODAC title in five seasons and just the second NCAA Tournament berth in program history.  The team finished 13-3 overall and a perfect 8-0 in conference play.  Parker played in 15 of the team’s 16 games, notching career-highs in goals (38), assists (7) and points (45).  Her 72 ground balls were also a career-high and the second-best total on the team.  Following the season, she was named First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State, First Team All-South Atlantic Region and First Team All-American.  She was also selected to participate in the North-South Senior All-Star game.

Parker capped her outstanding career by being named the 1998 Pres Brown Award winner as the Outstanding Senior Female Athlete at W&L.
