Eloise Priest ’02 was simply one of the best athletes ever to suit up for the women’s lacrosse team at Washington and Lee. She was a four-year letterwinner and a team captain for her final two seasons.
A four-year starter, Priest began her career as a midfielder, finishing as the team’s third-leading scorer during her rookie campaign with 23 goals and 10 assists.
Priest moved to defense for her sophomore season and flourished, earning First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State and First Team All-Region honors as the Generals allowed an average of just 7.77 goals per game.
As a junior, Priest helped lead W&L to a 15-4 overall record, an ODAC title and a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The defense allowed just 6.09 goals per game and Priest was again honored as a First Team All-ODAC, All-State and All-Region selection. In addition, she was named First Team All-America after causing 44 turnovers and collecting 35 ground balls.
Priest’s senior season resulted in an 11-6 overall record as the defense allowed just 7.75 goals per outing. She caused 41 turnovers and picked up 35 ground balls en route to being named First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State, First Team All-Region and First Team All-America. She was also honored as the Division III Defensive Player of the Year.
A three-time member of the ODAC All-Tournament team, Priest played in 63 of a possible 64 games during her career, starting every contest in which she played.
