WILLIAMSBURG, Va.  — Senior Daniel Cope (Dallas, Texas/St. Mark's School) recorded the second-fastest time in program history in the 5,000m, and senior Freddie Marx (Greensboro, N.C./Walter Hines Page) had the second-best time in W&L history in the 10,000m to pace the No. 24 Washington and Lee men's track and field team on day one of the Colonial Relays on Friday.  

Highlights From the Meet

• Cope finished 14th in the 5,000m with a time of 14:45.17 in a meet featuring mostly Division I teams. It was just under two seconds off the school record of 14:43.50 set by MacKenzye Leroy '18 on April 14, 2018. Cope's time is the third-fastest in Division III this year.
• In the 10,000m, Marx finished in 31:18.67. The only runner in W&L history with a faster time is Mac Strehler '17, who holds the program record at 30:19.60, which he set on April 14, 2017.
• The Generals had four runners besides Cope register new personal bests in the 5,000m. First-year Hayden Roberts (Lutherville, Md./Loyola Blakefield) finished in 14:55.53. First-year Josh Fingerhut (Havertown, Pa./Haverford Township) had a time of 14:56.86. Junior Drew Woodfolk (Kingwood, Texas/St. John's School) crossed the line in 15:07.10, and sophomore Max Thomas (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) registered a time of 15:30.02.
• Senior Daniel Kuntz (Minneapolis, Minn./Breck School) placed fourth in the high jump at 1.88m (6'2.00").
• Junior Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) took sixth in the 110m hurdles in 15.56, and first-year Adam Roy (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) was sixth in the javelin at 42.21m (138'6.00").
