McDonough Resets 800m Program Record on Final Day of Bast-Cregger

SALEM, Va. - First-year DJ McDonough of the Washington and Lee University men's track and field team reset the program's 800m record on the final day of the Bast-Cregger Invitational on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • McDonough highlighted the meet for the Blue and White by clocking a personal-best time of 1:55.46 to finish first and set a program record in the 800m. Andrew Carroll and William Fitch finished back-to-back in third and fourth place, respectively. Carroll posted a time of 1:57.56, while Fitch crossed the finish line in a personal-best time of 1:59.97.
  • Macky Gartley secured a first-place finish in the 60m hurdles after qualifying in Friday's prelims, posting a time of 8.13s to claim gold. Gartley also competed in the 200m, turning in a third-place finish with a time of 22.91s. Connor LaCour finished fourth in the 400m with a time of 51.18s and added a sixth-place finish in the 200m after clocking 23.23s.
  • John Hogan and Teddy Meredith both earned top-eight finishes in the mile. Hogan placed sixth with a time of 4:35.10, while Meredith finished eighth in 4:37.29.
  • Fidel Small turned in a second-place finish in his season debut in the triple jump, recording a personal-best mark of 13.36m (43'-10.00"). Maddox Noll placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 13.62m (44'-08.25"), while Leo Avigliano rounded out the top finishers with a seventh-place showing in the weight throw, posting a personal-best mark of 14.36m (47'-01.50").
