NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team garnered nine All-South Region laurels for the outdoor season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced this week.
The top-eight performances in each event, including relays, earn the distinction of All-Region in the ten regions. The Generals' nine All-Region honorees mark the second-most in program history.
The Blue and White had three athletes garner multiple All-Region honors for their respective events during the outdoor season.
Sam Daunt,
Keaton Rush and
Macky Gartley highlighted the selections, all earning a pair of honors. Daunt earned recognition in the 1,500m and 5,000m this season. He ranked fourth in the 5,000m with a time of 14:14.08, the second-fastest time in program history, while ranking fifth in the 1,500m with a time of 3:53.98. Rush reeled in honors in the 5,000m and 10,000m, leading the region in the 10k with a program record time of 29:36.78 while posting a time of 14:07.83 in the 5,000m, a program record and the third-fastest time in the south region.
Gartley rounded out the trio with a pair of honors in 110m and 400m hurdles. He led the south region in 110m hurdles with a program record time of 14.14s while ranking fifth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.52s, the second-fastest time in program history.
