LEXINGTON, Va. - The Road to Salem will run through Watt Field for the second-ranked Generals (19-1) and three additional IWLCA Top-10 teams. The Blue and White will take on No. 9 Gettysburg (16-4) at 1 p.m. and No. 4 Salisbury (15-3) will face No. 10 York (Pa.) College (17-3) at 4 p.m on Saturday, May 20. The winners of the two Saturday contests will advance to the NCAA Regional Championships on Sunday. The Quarterfinal matchup that will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Watt Field (GPS Address: 100 West Denny Circle, Lexington, VA 24450). All four teams are familiar with one another will mark the second matchup of the year regardless of who advances to the quarterfinals.
Salisbury and York are making the return trip to Watt after visiting the Generals and Lexington during the non-conference slate. W&L hosted SU on February 25 and
edged the Sea Gulls a 6-5 loss, a defensive battle for the ages. A month later, the Spartans handed W&L its only loss of the season, a
12-8 decision on March 25, in the fifth matchup in program history. Saturday will be the second meeting of the year for Salisbury and York (Pa.), the
Sea Gulls downed the Spartans 11-5 on April 8.
Gettysburg defeated York 19-9 on March 15 and
Salisbury edged Gettysburg 10-8 the week before, March 11.

2022 quarterfinals. Gettysburg took an 8-4 decision to advance to the Final Four in Salem, Va. a year ago, which is also the host site of the 2023 Championships.

BY THE NUMBERS
No. 2 Washington and Lee
- The Generals own the 15th-best scoring offense in DIII, averaging 16.25 goals per game and the second-best scoring defense which allows just 5.75 goals against each time out.
- W&L's +10.50 goals is the sixth-best scoring margin in the division and averages 22.50 points per game.
- The Blue and White dominate 50-50 balls with an average of 18.80 groundballs and 15.55 draw controls per game (63.2%, No. 11 in DIII)
- The Generals cause 10.95 turnovers per game and average just 11.40 turnovers, second best in the country.
- Five players have tallied 30+ points this season led by Hanna Bishops 80 points (62 goals, 18 assists) and Allie Schwab's 63 (36 goals, 27 assists). Eleven Generals have totaled double-digit points throughout the season.
- The Generals defense successfully clears the ball 91.6% of the time and holds opposing offenses to 41.7 percent on free position attempts.
No. 4 Salisbury
- The Sea Gulls score 12.72 goals while allowing 6.94 goals against per game.
- SU takes 29.94 shots per game and 22.33 of those end up on target and score 42.5% of the time.
- Salisbury grabs 57% of the draw control opportunities and scoops up 16.06 groundballs per game.
- Emma Skoglund led the offense all season as she tallied a team-high 59 points. She led the team in goals (39) and finished second on the team in assists (20).
- Natalie Held, the 2023 C2C Defensive Player of the Year, leads the team in caused turnovers with 27 and has collected 24 groundballs. She also leads the team in draw controls with 57 on the circle this year.
- In cage for the Sea Gulls is Kaitlyn Hunsinger, the goalie tallied 113 stops for a 51.6 save percentage and a 7.57 goals against average.
No. 9 Gettysburg
- The Bullets are ranked 12th in both scoring offense (16.35 GPG) and margin (+7.35), and is 21st in scoring defense with 7.35 goals against per game.
- GC records an average of 15.15 draw controls per game (56.8% of the draws) and 17 groundballs per contest.
- Gettysburg matches W&L in clearing percentage, 91.6% of attempts are successful and scored on 55% of all free position shots (61-of-111).
- The 2023 Centennial Attacker of the Year, Jordan Basso, has tallied 102 points across 66 goals and 36 assists to lead the Bullets' offense.
- Lily Macatee was voted 2023 Centennial Defensive Player of the Year wih 21 caused turnovers, 29 groundballs and lines up on the draw circle with a team-best 110 draw controls.
- Gillian Cortese is figured to start in cage for the Bullets. Cortese's 7.79 goals-against average and 47.2 save percentage has earned her a 15-4 record in goal.
No. 10 York (Pa.)
- The Spartans score 14.40 goals and allow 7.0 goals against per game for a scoring margin of +7.40, 22nd in DIII.
- York is on a nine-game winning streak and has not lost since falling to then-sixth-ranked Salisbury, 11-5, on April 8.
- The Spartans' keepers have made 152 stops and boast a combined save percentage of 52.1%. Bella Garabo, the starting goalie owns a 16-3 record and 117 saves with a 55.7% save percentage.
- Kiersten Blanchard leads YCP's scoring efforts with 70 points, 45 goals and 25 assists, while Zoe Kluegelhas has a team-high 47 scores. The Spartans have seven scorers in double-digits.
- Midfielder Sydney Mentzer is a strong two-way player with 27 caused turnovers, 39 groundballs, 51 draw controls and 40 goals on the season. Mentzer was named MACC Rookie of the Year.
