GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The No. 5 Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team saw its 2022 season come to an end in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Sunday, dropping an 8-4 decision to No. 4 Gettysburg.
The Generals close their season with a 19-3 overall record, tied for the most wins in a season in program history. The Bullets improve to 19-3 overall with the win.
W&L scored the game's first two goals in a 36-second span early in the first period. Junior attacker
Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa. / Harriton) got the team on the board at the 10:12 mark, before sophomore midfielder
Walker McKnight (Nashville, Tenn. / Harpeth Hall) padded the lead at 9:36.
The Bullets then went on a 6-1 run spanning from 5:23 remaining in the first quarter to 7:56 to play in the third. Sophomore attacker Jordan Basso led the run with two goals for the Bullets, as the team took a 6-3 lead.

Hanna Bishop (Bronxville, N.Y. / Bronxville) scored less than a minute later to cut the W&L deficit back to two goals, but Gettysburg kept the Generals off the board for the remainder of the contest, while receiving a third-quarter goal from first-year midfielder Emily Crane and a fourth-quarter score from Basso to yield the final result.

Janie Stillwell (Alexandria, Va. / Episcopal) logged a pair of assists for a team-high two points on the day, with McKnight, Schwab, Bishop and junior midfielder
Jenny Lisovicz (Glen Ridge, N.J. / Glen Ridge) scoring once each. Sophomore defender
Eugenie Rovegno (Duxbury, Mass. / Duxbury) notched a game-high five draw controls, while senior defender
Caroline Hall (Henrico, Va. / Collegiate School) and junior defender
Sam Van Belle (Lebanon, N.J. / North Hunterdon) tied for the team high in caused turnovers (2).
Sophomore goalkeeper
Caroline Kranich (State College, Pa. / Mercersburg Academy) (18-3) played the entirety of the game and made six saves, and she also finished with a game-high three ground balls.
Basso and Crane led the Gettysburg offense with three points each, as Basso scored three times to goals and an assist for Crane. Junior midfielders Kelly O'Connor and Katie Fullowan tallied one goal and one assist each. Sophomore Gill Cortese played 60 minutes in goal for the Bullets and made seven saves.
The shot totals finished close, with W&L edging Gettysburg, 21-20. The Generals finished with 17 turnovers to 12 for the Bullets, but W&L claimed 10 draw controls to six for Gettysburg.
