GREENWOOD, Ind. - Recent graduates John Benner and Campbell Charneco and rising senior Nick Lagges of the Washington and Lee University baseball team were honored for their performances in the classroom and on the diamond as they were named College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District.

College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined achievements on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA or higher while competing in at least 90% of their team's games or starting in 66% of them. For pitchers, eligibility requires a minimum of 17 appearances or at least 35 innings pitched.

Charneco, a business administration major from Clifton, Virginia, was named Academic All-District for the third consecutive season. In addition to his three CSC honors, he has been named a W&L Scholar-Athlete five times and earned Academic All-ODAC recognition twice. A four-year starter behind the plate, Charneco was a two-time All-ODAC selection, including a First Team nod in 2024. He also earned a D3baseball.com Third Team All-Region honor and two Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Second Team All-State selections. In the 2024 season, he started and played in 29 games, posting a .345 batting average with 40 hits, three doubles, one triple, and three home runs. He drove in 16 runs while recording a .466 slugging percentage and a .905 OPS.

Benner, an economics major from McLean, Virginia, earned his first career Academic All-District accolade. Over his time at W&L, he was named a W&L Scholar-Athlete six times and selected to the Academic All-ODAC team twice. On the mound in 2024, Benner pitched and started in nine games, compiling a 2–3 record. He logged 39.1 innings, striking out 30 batters while allowing 55 hits and 34 earned runs. He concluded his career with a 17–10 record in 41 starts—the second-most starts in program history—while holding opponents to a .299 batting average.

Lagges, a computer science major from Chicago, Illinois, also received his first Academic All-District recognition. He has been named a W&L Scholar-Athlete four times and earned Academic All-ODAC honors in 2024. On the field, Lagges was the everyday starter at shortstop for the Generals, finishing the season with a .286 batting average and a .781 OPS.
