FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) announced the 2025 Women's Tennis all-conference teams and award winners on Tuesday, and Washington and Lee claimed three major awards and five All-ODAC citations.
Leading the way was junior
Lauren Long, who earned ODAC Player of the Year honors for the third consecutive year. Long was also voted as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar Athlete of the Year, the second year in a row a W&L player received the accolade (
Izzy Koziol '24). Head Coach
Erin Ness was named the ODAC Coach of the Year for the fourth straight season to round out the Blue and White award winners.
The Generals placed five players on the All-ODAC Singles First Team, headlined by Long at the No. 1 spot. Junior
Annie Jennings was slotted in at No. 3, followed by first-year
Greer Webb at No. 4, first-year
Jackie Daynovsky at No. 5 and senior
Meagan Donovan at No. 6.
Long turned in yet another strong season for the Generals, going 16-2 overall in singles play, which included a 13-2 mark at the No. 1 spot. Long also qualified for the NCAA Division III Singles Championship for a third consecutive season, but will withdraw from competition due to injury. Long is the third player in program history to be named the ODAC Player of the Year three times (Marilyn Baker '95, 1993-95; Sonja Meighan '15, 2012-15), and she is also the third player in program history to earn Player of the Year and Scholar Athlete of the Year in the same season (Katie Tabb '09, 2009; Brooke Donnelly '17, 2017).
Ness, now the Coach of the Year for four straight seasons and nine times overall, led the Generals to an 18-6 overall record in 2024-25 and their 22nd straight and 34th conference tournament championship. Ness coached five players to All-ODAC First Team Singles honors for the first time since 2017 when her players claimed each of the six, while also helping first-year
Allie Murrell to the ITA regional semifinals, and
Mary Kate Kahl and Murrell to the semifinals of the doubles draw.
Jennings gets the first All-ODAC citation of her career after posting a 12-5 singles record this season, including a perfect 3-0 mark at No. 3. Jennings ranked third on the team this season in singles wins, and she was the only player on the team to play in at least one match in all six singles positions. Jennings also went 3-0 at No. 1, 1-0 at No. 2 and 2-1 at No. 5.
Webb was one of W&L's top first-year players in 2024-25 as she won 9-of-10 singles matches on the season, including each of her last nine after falling in her collegiate opener at the ITA Regional Tournament. Webb posted a perfect 5-0 record at the No. 4 singles spot this season.
Daynovsky not only led W&L in matches played at No. 5, but also led the team in wins at the No. 5 position, going 4-0 this season. Daynovsky totaled an 8-1 singles mark across her rookie campaign, with additional marks of 2-0 at No. 3 and 1-0 at No. 4.
Donovan rounds out this year's W&L All-ODAC players with her second straight First Team Singles citation at No. 6 and third overall for her career after making the team at No. 5 as a first-year. Donovan closed out her collegiate career with an 8-0 record in singles play this season, with a 7-0 mar at No. 6. Each of Donovan's wins came in straight sets, and she won 14 of her 16 sets by either 6-0 or 6-1 scores.
The Generals wrapped up their 2024-25 season as a team in the NCAA Third Round against No. 2 Emory on May 11.
