No. 13 Women's Tennis secures 23rd consecutive ODAC crown

LEXINGTON, Va. – The No. 13 Washington and Lee women's tennis team capped off yet another dominating run through the ODAC playoffs with a 4-0 win against second-seeded Averett in Sunday's conference championship match.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the two doubles matches to finish, the Generals (20-2) dropped just three games combined to pick up the opening point. Junior Haley Stoltz and sophomore Allie Murrell won, 6-1, at No. 3 before sophomore Greer Webb and first-year Margarette Berdy posted a 6-2 victory at No. 2.
  • Berdy, Murrell and sophomore Sarah Donnelly secured the three needed singles points for the Generals, each doing so convincingly in straight sets. Berdy and Donnelly both only lost one game apiece, before Murrell clinched the match on Court 4, 6-1, 6-3.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Sunday's championship marks the 23rd in a row for the Generals and the 35th ODAC Championship title in program history. W&L won all three of its matches in the 2026 tournament, 4-0.
  • Berdy boosted her team lead in singles wins, improving to 16-4 across her impressive rookie season. She is also 7-2 at No. 5 singles.
  • Berdy and Webb tied seniors Lauren Long and Grace Lorenz for the most wins among doubles teams (6).

The Generals earned the ODAC's automatic bid into this season's NCAA Division III Team Championship bracket. They will find out who and where they play during the selection show on Monday at 12:00 p.m. at NCAA.com.
