Jan Hathorn has announced the appointment of Emme Levenson to the post of Head Women's Tennis Coach. Levenson will begin her duties with the Generals on Monday, September 7.

"Throughout the entire search process, Emme stood out among all candidates for her approach to coaching, her desire to teach Physical Education and the importance of serving as a faculty member. She has a tremendous excitement to lead the outstanding women of the W&L women's tennis team and to build upon their outstanding success and reputation in the classroom and on the courts."
Levenson arrives in Lexington after a one-year stint as the head coach of the William Smith tennis team in Geneva, N.Y., while also serving as an assistant coach for the Hobart tennis team. During the 2025-26 season, the Herons went 8-11 overall and 3-5 in Liberty League play, before falling to St. Lawrence in the Liberty League Tournament. It marked the Herons' first Liberty League Tournament appearance since 2019, the most wins in a season for the team in four years and William Smith's first All-Liberty League selection in three years in Haley Levine (Honorable Mention Singles).

Prior to leading the Herons, Levenson was the graduate assistant coach for two seasons at Springfield College. She led the team to a five-win improvement in her second season, while guiding six of her student athletes to ITA Scholar Athlete laurels. In addition to coaching, Levenson also served as a graduate teaching fellow in the School of Physical Education, Performance, and Sports Leadership, before going on to earn her master's degree in athletic leadership.
Levenson spent her undergraduate career at Division I Colgate University, where she was a four-year starter and team captain as a senior. She compiled a 33-23 overall record in singles at Colgate, playing primarily out of the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in the lineup. Levenson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate in political science and sociology.
Levenson begins her trek as the fifth head coach in W&L women's tennis program history on Monday, before leading the team to Newport News, Va., for the CNU Invite.
