INDIANAPOLIS – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the 2026 Division III Women's Tennis Team Championship field on Monday, and Washington and Lee earned a trip to Atlanta and a first-round bye.
The Generals (20-2) have a bye through the first round and drew a matchup against No. 9 Trinity (Texas) in the second round on the campus of Emory University. North Carolina Wesleyan will battle Asbury in the first round, with the winner set to face the host Eagles the following day in the second round.
N.C. Wesleyan (16-4) earned their spot in the national tournament by way of the USA South Conference's automatic bid after a 4-0 win over Methodist in the conference championship match, while Asbury (11-7) upset top-seeded Piedmont in the Collegiate Conference of the South championship match, 4-3, to automatically qualify.
The Generals and Tigers (17-1) were also automatic qualifiers through their conference tournaments. W&L cruised through the ODAC Tournament, culminating in their 23rd conference title on Sunday, while Trinity downed Sewanee, 4-1, in the Southern Athletic Association championship match.
Emory (12-6) is an at-large team into the national field after claiming the University Athletic Association (UAA) third-place match, 4-0, over Carnegie Mellon.
Saturday's two winning teams will meet in Sunday's regional final, with that winning team moving on to the national quarterfinals in Chattanooga, Tenn., on May 18. More information about this weekend's matches will be announced throughout the week.
