Men's Track & Field Breaks Pair of Meet Records, Finishes Second at ODAC Championships

HARRISONBURG ,Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team set a pair of meet records en route to a second place finish at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Championships on Saturday.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
  • The Generals recorded 113 points across the two-day meet to finish in second place. Lynchburg claimed the title with a staggering 273 points, while Roanoke followed the Blue and White with 94 points. Bridgewater finished in fourth place with 83 points, and Randolph rounded out the top five with 71 points.
  • Leo Avigliano highlighted the second day of action as he set a new program and meet record in the discus. Avigliano recorded a personal-best toss of 48.93m (160'-06.00") to become the fourth General in program history to win the event and the first since 2019. Avigliano's mark surpassed Dashiell Dericks' program record of 159'-08.00", set in 2017, while also taking down Seth McGuffin's meet record of 48.82m, set in 1995.
  • Will Knight turned in a third-place finish in the discus, recording a toss of 42.85m (140'-07.00"), while Evan Novak posted a mark of 39.84m (130'-08.00") to finish in seventh place.
  • Evan Langhammer won his third-straight outdoor pole vault title after soaring over a meet-record mark of 5.03m (16'-06.00"), which also improved his second-best mark in program history. His mark broke Andy Rollins' meet record of 5.02m, set in 2007, and currently ranks 7th in Division III this season.
  • Patrick Haynes was the lone General competing in the triple jump this afternoon. Haynes turned in a sixth-place finish, leaping 13.60m (44'-07.50"), which ranks second in program history.
  • After a rain delay postponed the event, Brandon Makowski became the eighth General in program history to win the javelin. Makowski recorded a personal-best mark of 51.13m (167'-09.00") to finish in first place.
  • Ethan De Fonseka, Jonathan Farbman, Mark Freeman, and Patrick France teamed up in the 4x100m relay to kick off the track events. The squad turned in a sixth-place finish after posting a time of 42.93s.
  • Mitchell DiMond was the top finisher for the Blue and White in the 1,500m, finishing in eighth place after clocking a time of 4:03.29. George Marable finished eighth in the 110m hurdles, posting a time of 16.83s.
  • Ryan McKenna and Wilson Kasischke finished back-to-back in second and third place in the 400m hurdles. McKenna clocked a time of 55.43s to finish as the runner-up, while Kasischke earned bronze after crossing the finish line in a personal-best time of 56.61s.
  • The Blue and White had three student-athletes finish in the top eight in the 5,000m run, with Robert Cooper pacing the way with a second-place finish. Cooper closed out the season as the runner-up, crossing the finish line in 14:56.97. Keaton Rush finished right behind Cooper in third place with a time of 14:59.48, while Sam Daunt rounded out the trio with an eighth-place finish, crossing the line in 15:28.38.
  • Wilson Kasischke, Ryan McKenna, Luke Avigliano, and George Marable wrapped up the meet in the 4x400m relay. The squad earned a second-place finish after posting a time of 3:21.18.
