HARRISONBURG ,Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team recorded eight top-eight finishes on the first day of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships on Friday.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE MEET
- After one day of competition, the Generals are sitting in third place with 30 points. Lynchburg leads the field with 83.5 points, while Bridgewater sits behind them in second place with 44.5 points. Roanoke follows the Blue and White in fourth with 22.5 points, and Ferrum rounds out the top five with 16 points.
- Due to a rain delay following the men's 100m prelims, the javelin, 200m, and 400m hurdles were postponed. The javelin will resume action at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning, with Brandon Makowski leading the field with a mark of 49.07m (161'-00.00"). Three heats of the 400m hurdles are set to start at 4:05 p.m., with four heats of the 200m scheduled to begin at approximately 4:25 p.m.
- The Generals had four scorers in the shot put this afternoon, with O'Keefe McKinney leading the way with a third-place finish. McKinney earned his second-straight podium finish during the outdoor season after recording a season-best toss of 14.24m (46'-08.75"). Leo Avigliano finished right behind him in fourth place after registering a season-best mark of 13.46m (44'-02.00"). Stevan Bajski and Will Knight rounded out the scoring four with sixth- and seventh-place finishes. Bajski recorded a season-best mark of 13.35m (43'-09.75") to finish sixth, while Knight posted a mark of 13.28m (43'-07.00") to finish seventh.
- Evan Novak was the lone General in the hammer throw this afternoon, turning in a third-place finish with a season-best mark of 46.76m (153'-05.00"). Colin Verrett earned an eighth-place finish in the 10,000m run, crossing the finish line in 32:39.09.
- Raja Mehendale and Thomas Kallen both competed in the 3,000m steeplechase this afternoon, finishing in fifth and sixth place, respectively. Mehendale clocked a personal-best time of 10:05.11 to finish fifth in his first outdoor conference meet, while Kallen crossed the finish line in 10:20.87 to finish sixth.

- George Marable moved to the No. 2 all-time in the program's 110m hurdles record books after clocking in a personal best time of 15.20s. His time surpassed Ty del Casal, Zander Tallman and Brian Krupczak's time of 15.25s.
