Men’s Cross Country & Track and Field Secures Five CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - The Washington and Lee University men's cross country and track & field team garnered five College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. 

College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined achievements on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA or higher while competing in at least ranking Top-50 in the region during indoor or outdoor track & field or at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Regional Championship.

Rising senior Keaton Rush earned his second distinction from the organization after being named All-District last season while rising juniorsRobert Cooper and Leo Avigliano , rising senior Will Knight and recent graduate Ryan McKenna garnered their first citation.

Rush, an accounting and economics double major, boasts a 3.94 grade point average (GPA) and was named the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Year for both the 2024 cross country season and the 2025 outdoor track & field season. During cross country, Rush placed fourth at the Regional Championship with a time of 24:57.2 and earned First Team All-ODAC honors with a fifth-place finish at the conference meet. On the track, he ranked in the top three in the South Region in two events during both seasons, leading the indoor 5,000m and outdoor 10,000m. He earned Second Team All-American honors at the Outdoor National Championships with a 15th-place finish in the 10,000m. Rush set three program records this season, including breaking the ODAC 10,000m record with a time of 29:37.51.


Cooper, an economics and history double major, had an impressive year in both cross country and track, earning three All-ODAC citations, including one First Team honor. In cross country, he secured a seventh-place finish at the ODAC Championships to earn First Team honors and followed with a sixth-place finish at the South Region Championships, helping the team qualify for the NCAA Championships. On the track, Cooper finished second in the 5,000m during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, earning All-ODAC honors and All-Region recognition for his indoor performance.


Knight, an economics major, earned his first honor during the track & field season and his second of the year after previously being named All-District following his junior football season. This year, Knight ranked in the top 15 in the South Region in the indoor and outdoor shot put, as well as in the discus. He placed third at the outdoor ODAC Championships with a throw of 42.85m (140'-07.00"), earning Third Team All-ODAC honors.


Avigliano, a physics major, became the fourth General in program history to win an ODAC title in the discus, recording a program and meet record throw of 48.93m (160'-06.00"). He ranked second in the South Region and 41st in Division III in the discus, while also placing in the top 20 in both the indoor and outdoor shot put this season.


McKenna, a business administration major, earned four All-ODAC honors during his senior season, including a Second Team All-ODAC selection in the 400m hurdles during the outdoor season. He ranked 44th in the South Region in the indoor 400m and 32nd in the outdoor event, and placed third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.27s. McKenna also helped the 4x400m relay team earn a pair of Second Team All-ODAC honors and contributed to the distance medley relay team's second-place finish at the indoor ODAC Championships.


Rush has been selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on July 16th.
