Langhammer Named Field Athlete of the Year, Men’s Track & Field Garners 10 VaSID All-State Honors

LEXINGTON, Va. - The Washington and Lee University men's track and field team garnered ten Virginia Sports Infromation Directors (VaSID) All-State honors while Junior Evan Langhammer was named the Field Athlete of the Year.

Evan Langhammer was named Field Athlete of the Year and earned First Team honors in the jumps following an outstanding junior season, which included his second career qualification for the NCAA Championships. Langhammer captured his third consecutive outdoor pole vault title by clearing a meet-record height of 5.03m (16'-06.00").


Keaton Rush earned First Team honors in the distance events after qualifying for the NCAA Championships for the first time in his career. Rush earned Second Team All-American recognition in the 10,000m with a 15th-place finish, clocking in at 30:39.21. He also placed third in the 5,000m with a time of 14:59.48 at the ODAC Championships and set a program and ODAC record in the 10k earlier in the season at the Bison Outdoor Classic, finishing in 29:37.51.


George Marable and Ryan McKenna both garnered All-State accolades in the hurdles. Marable earned First Team honors after finishing the season ranked second in the South Region. He now ranks second all-time in program history in both the 400m hurdles (53.74s) and the 110m hurdles (15.20s). McKenna was named to the Second Team after placing second in the 400m hurdles at the ODAC Championships with a time of 55.43s, which also earned him Second Team All-ODAC recognition.


After securing ODAC titles, Leo Avigliano and Brandon Makowski were both named to the First Team All-State in the throws. Avigliano earned his first conference title by setting new program and meet records in the discus with a throw of 48.93m (160'-06.00"). Makowski claimed the ODAC title in the javelin after a weather delay, posting a personal-best mark of 51.13m (167'-09.00").


Wilson Kasischke, Ryan McKenna, Luke Avigliano, and George Marable rounded out the All-State selections by earning Second Team honors as members of the 4x400m relay team. The quartet finished second at the ODAC Championships with a time of 3:21.18, earning Second Team All-ODAC honors.
