LYNCHBURG, Va. – The eighth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team continued its ODAC play with a 23-7 victory over Lynchburg on Tuesday afternoon and a 25-0 win at Randolph in the nightcap.
Game Summary vs. Lynchburg
After Lynchburg opened the scoring at 13:36, W&L quickly took control with three consecutive goals, including two from
Hannah Van Son (10:41, 10:07) and one from
Brianna Benoit (9:41).
A back-and-forth battle in the first quarter saw W&L leading 8-4 after 15 minutes, with
Sophie Edwards,
Reedie Warwick, and
Claire Horner each adding key goals.
In the second quarter, the Generals outpaced Lynchburg 7-2, highlighted by goals from
Caroline Foster (13:18, 1:52) and a free-position strike from
Betty Boatwright (9:45). Van Son capped the first half with her fifth goal at 0:16, giving W&L a commanding 15-6 lead at the break.
The Generals' defense took over in the second half, holding Lynchburg scoreless for over 27 minutes.
Emma Marsh (14:24) and
Kelly Polacek (10:24, 5:44, 0:00) each added key goals as W&L extended its lead. The Generals closed the game with a 4-1 fourth quarter, punctuated by a free-position goal from Polacek (1:35) to seal the 23-7 win.

W&L wasted no time getting on the board, as
Brianna Benoit opened the scoring just 30 seconds in, assisted by
Sophie Edwards. That goal sparked a 12-0 first quarter, with Edwards,
Reedie Warwick, and
Grace Kim each finding the back of the net twice.
The Generals continued their dominance in the second quarter, adding six more goals before halftime, including strikes from
Payton Haley (6:25) and
Nora Hamilton (4:54, assisted by Haley). W&L led 18-0 at the break, with its defense not allowing a single shot attempt from Randolph.
Despite slowing the pace in the second half, W&L still managed to tack on seven more goals, with
Ella Dutton (13:06, fourth quarter) and
Ella Buckley (10:18, fourth quarter) scoring late to cap the commanding victory.
