RUSTBURG, Va. – The Washington and Lee equestrian team delivered strong performances at the IHSA Region 2 Championships on Saturday, hosted by the University of Lynchburg. Two Generals earned qualifications for the IHSA Zone 4 Championships, while senior
Allison Hines was recognized as the region's Most Outstanding Senior by the coaches.
Elisabeth Marek secured a runner-up finish in Open Fences, earning a spot at Zones, and placed third in Open Flat.
Jade Condrell was crowned event champion in Limit Fences, also punching her ticket to the Zone 4 Championship with a first-place ride.
Hines finished sixth in Open Flat and fifth in Open Fences, capping off her regional performance with the prestigious Most Outstanding Senior award.
Elli Pope placed fourth in Intermediate Flat, while
Lydia Bowersox took fifth in Limit Flat.
Elizabeth Marshall finished third in Novice Flat, and
Tytus Boston rounded out the W&L results with a fourth-place ride in Introductory.
The Generals now turn their attention to the ODAC Championships on Wednesday, March 19, hosted by Bridgewater College at the Virginia Horse Center's Waldron Arena in Anderson Coliseum. Competition begins at 10 a.m..
Marek and Condrell will represent W&L at the IHSA Zone 4 Championships on Saturday, April 5, hosted by Virginia Tech at the Smithfield Horse Center in Blacksburg, Va., set to start at 10 a.m.
