HOLLINS, Va. — The Washington and Lee University equestrian team placed third on Sunday at the Hollins IHSA show, totaling 25 points after the drop to secure another top-three finish.
With the result, the Generals remain third in the regional standings, sitting 10 points ahead of Hollins and 10 points behind Virginia Tech with one show remaining in the regular season.
W&L was highlighted by continued dominance in the Introductory class, as Kate Martin won the section and Henry McClure followed with a runner-up finish. Samantha Bourque secured a third-place ride in Intermediate Flat to officially qualify for Regionals in the class, while Lydia Bowersox added a second-place finish in the same section. The Generals also received strong rides from Ryon Sinclair, who finished second in Limit Fences, and Brooke Capuzzi, who placed second in Pre-Novice.
Up Next: Washington and Lee returns to competition on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Virginia Tech Winter Blues IHSA Show in Blacksburg, Virginia. Competition begins at 10 a.m. at the Smithfield Horse Center.
