GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The fourth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team dropped a 15-7 decision to No. 9 Gettysburg Collegeon Saturday afternoon at Clark Field.
The Generals (3-2) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the opening three minutes, but Gettysburg (3-0) responded with a 5-1 scoring run to close the first quarter. W&L battled to within two goals multiple times, including at 6-4 and 9-6, but the Bullets held firm and outscored the Generals 6-1 in the final quarter to seal the win.
Gettysburg controlled possession and tempo, outshooting W&L 30-11, including a 24-10 advantage in shots on goal. The Generals committed 24 turnovers, their highest total this season, which limited their offensive opportunities.

The Generals started strong, with
Lara Baki scoring back-to-back goals at 14:39 and 13:31, followed by a
Betty Boatwright goal at 12:56 to take a 3-0 lead. Gettysburg quickly responded with three straight goals of its own, tying the game at 3-3 by the 10:25 mark of the first quarter.
After W&L regained the lead on a
Caroline Foster goal (7:23, first quarter), the Bullets took control, scoring six of the next eight goals to lead 9-6 at halftime.
The Generals were held scoreless in the third quarter as Gettysburg extended its lead to 11-6. Baki broke the drought with her third goal at 12:47 in the fourth, but the Bullets rattled off four unanswered goals to close out the victory.
