FERRUM, Va. – A 49-point second half for the Washington and Lee men's basketball team was not enough to overcome Ferrum's strong offensive output, as the Generals fell to the Panthers, 101-68, on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Generals (6-14, 4-7 ODAC) opened the game with an 11-7 lead through seven minutes of play, before the Panthers (14-7, 6-6 ODAC) took off and never looked back. Coming out of a timeout, Ferrum proceeded to go on a 29-3 run over the next 8:10 of action, including 20 straight points to close out the run to build up a 36-14 advantage with 3:46 before the half. During the run, Ferrum made 12-of-18 shots from the field, including 5-of-8 from deep, while the lone Generals' field goal came on a three from senior
Thomas Feigin.
Entering the second half trailing 44-19, W&L improved its field-goal shooting significantly. They made a total of 18-of-36 shots in the period and 6-of-13 from beyond the arc, including a 19-point explosion in the second half alone from first-year
Bryce Breeden. Unfortunately for the Blue and White, the Panthers shot even better across the second 20 minutes of play. They made 19-of-31 shots and put up a staggering 57 points to close out the game, led by 15 from Zavier Measmer and 13 from Charles Tart III.
