SPARKS, Md. — USA Lacrosse Magazine named its Division III women's lacrosse All-Americans on Thursday, highlighting the top performers of the 2023 season and four Generals were honored with selections.
Eugenie Rovegno (Duxbury, Mass. / Duxbury),
Hanna Bishop (Bronxville, N.Y. / Bronxville) and
Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa. / Harriton) all picked up
repeat honors after being named
USA Lacrosse Preseason All-Americans in January. Junior goalkeeper
Caroline Kranich (State College, Pa. / Mercersburg) earned her first national postseason award from the publication.
Rovegno was named First Team All-America on defense for the second season in a row by USA Lacrosse after another strong season on the Generals' back line. The ODAC Defensive Player of the Year recorded a team-best 46 groundballs and 33 turnovers in addition to controlling 83 draws on the circle.
Bishop, an honorable mention nod as a sophomore, has tallied 58 goals and 16 assists for a team-high 74 points through 19 games for a second team laurel; the Bronxville, N.Y. native is continuing to make her mark on W&L's program records. She is tied for 6th place in career points (200), one point shy of the fifth-most points in a single season and fourth in career goals (160). Bishop is already in the top-five for the second-straight year in single season goals (58) with, at minimum, one more game to be played.
Schwab, voted to the third team last season, earned honorable mention recognition at attack. The co-captain's stat line includes 33 goals and 25 helpers for 58 points through 19 games, she's also added 16 groundballs, eight caused turnovers and three draw controls. Last week, the ODAC's 2023 Offensive Player of the Year became the second General in program history to exceed both 100 goals and 100 assists in a Blue and White career.
Kranich rounds out the honorees with her first national postseason recognition, an honorable mention selection from USA Lacrosse. The First-Team All-ODAC keeper is charged with directing one of the statistically best defenses in the nation; the Generals are atop the conference in clearing, save percentage, scoring defense, scoring margin, and are top-5 in the division in clearing, scoring defense and scoring margin.
Kranich, who led the ODAC in win percentage (0.947), goals-against average (6.74) and save percentage (0.492), recorded a career-best 13 saves against Tufts in March to be named DIII Player of the Week by USA Lacrosse.
The second-ranked Generals (18-1) earned the ODAC's automatic bid into the Division III Championship and will host first and second round action this weekend. W&L will play on Sunday at 1:00 pm against the winner of Saturday's Transylvania vs. Capital first round matchup.
