No. 2 Women's Lacrosse Completes Undefeated Road Slate with 14-4 Win at Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Second-ranked Washington and Lee University downed the University of Lynchburg 14-4 in a road ODAC women's lacrosse matchup on Saturday afternoon.

The Generals (14-1, 7-0 ODAC) trailed the Hornets (6-8, 4-2) at first but kept the 2023 road slate unblemished thanks to 4-0, 3-0 and 5-0 scoring runs throughout the contest.

The Lynchburg defense held W&L scoreless for the first 5:35 and the Hornets took advantage of the period by scoring first at the 13:06 mark. Shannon Timoney (Mendham, N.J. / West Morris Mendham) then scored back-to-back goals to take the lead away from LYN.

Nelly Morris was able to even the score at 2-2 but four-straight tallies spanning from the first to third quarter for the Generals broke open the game. The second stanza was nearly scoreless on both sides but Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa. / Harriton) found the back of the net with 3:16 left until halftime. The senior's goal gave W&L a 5-2 advantage at the break and would prove to be the game-winner.

On the back of another Schwab goal, the Blue and White outscored LYN 4-1 in the third stanza and 5-1 in the final quarter.

Timoney recorded a hat trick, Julia Thomson (Larchmont, N.Y. / Hackley), Jenny Lisovicz (Glen Ridge, N.J. / Glen Ridge) and Hanna Bishop (Bronxville, N.Y. / Bronxville) all scored a pair of goals. Timoney also grabbed a game-best six draw controls.

Bishop is now in sole possession of the fourth-most career goals in program history with 149. Eugenie Rovegno (Duxbury, Mass. / Duxbury) grabbed three draws in the win and now has 157 career draw controls to move into fourth-most on the program's all-time list after just two seasons, 37 games, with the Blue and White.

The Generals outshot the Hornets 37-15 and owned a 25-11 shots on goal advantage. W&L came up with 12 draw controls compared to eight for LYN.

Caroline Kranich (State College, Pa. / Mercersburg) played all 60 minutes and came up with seven saves in her 13th win of the year.

Not only did Saturday's win ensure a perfect road record for the Generals, but it also locked in W&L as the top seed for the ODAC Tournament with one league contest to play on Wednesday night.

W&L will host Bridgewater College on April 26 at 7 p.m. on Watt Field to complete the ODAC schedule before hosting Denison on Saturday, April 29 for senior day at noon.
