LEXINGTON, Va. - The second-ranked Washington and Lee University women's lacrosse team saw 17 different players record points in a 24-0 conference win over Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon.
The Generals (12-1, 5-0 ODAC) found the back of the net on seven occasions in the opening stanza and blanked the Marlins (3-10, 1-4) for the second recorded shutout this season. W&L added seven in the second frame and split ten goals over the second half of the contest.
The Blue and White scattered four straight goals in 40 second intervals starting with a
Jenny Lisovicz (Glen Ridge, N.J. / Glen Ridge) to
Allie Schwab (Bryn Mawr, Pa. / Harriton) tally, which proved to be the game-winner, at 14:21 off the first draw.
W&L recorded 42 shots and put all but ten on frame and 14 of the Generals goals came off assisted efforts. The Marlins were able to free their hands on four occasions but
Caroline Kranich (State College, Pa. / Mercersburg) and
Iman Haddad (Alexandria, Va. / St. Stephen's and St. Agnes) made two stops for the pair of shots that were on goal.
Schwab led all scorers with a pair of goals and four assists, Lisovicz followed with four points on two goals and two assists.
Hanna Bishop (Bronxville, N.Y. / Bronxville) tallied her tenth hat trick of the season.
The Blue and White grabbed 23 of 24 draws,
Eugenie Rovegno (Duxbury, Mass. / Duxbury) scooped up seven and
Shannon Timoney (Mendham, N.J. / West Morris Mendham) recorded six.
The Generals will return to action on Wednesday, April 19 against Randolph-Macon at 7 p.m.
