LEXINGTON, Va. - The No. 2 Washington and Lee University women's lacrosse squad downed Guilford College, 23-1, on Saturday afternoon's Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup.
The Generals (10-1, 3-0 ODAC) posted nine goals in the opening quarter to jump out to a 9-0 lead over the Quakers (2-8, 0-2).
W&L tallied four goals in the second, six in the third and ended the final quarter with four scores. The Blue and White defense held GC scoreless for three stanzas before conceding a free position goal at the 13:00 mark in the fourth quarter to Kylie Horn.
Alex Petras (Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset) led W&L with four goals,
Walker McKnight (Nashville, Tenn. / Harpeth Hall) and
Hanna Bishop (Bronxville, N.Y. / Bronxville) added hat tricks. Ten Generals recorded multiple points;
Claire Horner (Richmond, Va. / St. Catherine's) and
Brianna Benoit (Baldwin, N.Y. / Baldwin Senior) each dished out two assists for four and three points, respectively.
First-year
Ella Dutton (Denver, Colo. / Kent Denver) racked up a pair of goals that included her first career goal in Blue and White at the 10:48 mark in the third quarter to bring the score to 16-0 for the Generals.
Caroline Foster (Princeton, N.J. / Lawrenceville) found
Tati Monteleone (New York, N.Y. / Hackley) open for a score with three minutes left in the game for the senior's first goal of the season.
The Generals outshot the Quakers 31-7 and the W&L keepers;
Caroline Kranich,
Iman Haddad and Stafanie Chiguluri combined for three stops as the each one saw time in the cage.
On the draw circle, W&L grabbed 20 draws to Guilford's eight and was a perfect 8-of-8 in clearing attempts.
W&L will travel to No. 19 Roanoke College on Wednesday, April 5 for a 6 p.m. ODAC contest.
