LYNCHBURG, Va. — Junior
Joe O'Connor (Henrico, Va./Douglas Freeman) won the pole vault and finished second in two other events to lead the Washington and Lee men's track and field team at the Hornet Open hosted by Lynchburg on Saturday.
Highlights From the Meet
- O'Connor cleared 4.57m (15'0.00") in the pole vault to win the event. He also finished second in the 110m hurdles in 15.28 and in the high jump at 1.78m (5'10.00").
- First-year Adam Roy (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) claimed first in the shot put with a toss of 12.17m (39'11.25").
- Junior Ethan Bernstein (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) placed second in the 1,500m in 3:56.99, and first-year Zach Moore (Advance, N.C./Forsyth Country Day School) took second in the 800m with a time of 1:57.32.
- The 4x400m relay crossed the finish line second in 3:28.28. The foursome consisted of senior Alexander Caines (Hanover Park, Ill./Lake Park), first-year Sharif Wilson (Harare, Zimbabwe/Gateway), Moore and sophomore James Dixon (Mountain Brook, Ala./The Altamont School).
