LEXINGTON, Va. — The Washington and Lee men's basketball team had five players in double figures en route to a 91-77 victory over Emory & Henry on Saturday at the Duchossois Tennis Center.

The Generals (10-4, 3-2 ODAC) trailed, 10-2, just two minutes into the contest, but responded with a 22-2 onslaught over the next seven minutes to assume a 24-12 advantage. During the run, the Blue and White drained 9-of-11 shots from the field, including eight straight to start the stretch.

The Wasps (9-5, 2-3 ODAC) regrouped with a 6-0 spurt, capped on a fast break layup by junior guard Daniel Spencer, to trim the margin to 24-18 at the 9:38 mark. The lead fluctuated between five and 12 points the rest of the half, and the Blue and White took a 47-40 advantage into intermission.

W&L held an eight-point edge (66-58) with 13:15 remaining in the game, but then went on a 17-4 spurt to put the game away. Junior guard Kevin Dennin (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) ignited the run with back-to-back jumpers, while being fouled on the second and converting the free throw, to put the Generals up, 71-58, with 10:32 on the clock.

The teams exchanged baskets over the next four possessions, and then three points from sophomore forward Curtis Mitchell (Chevy Chase, Md./Georgetown Prep) and a step-back three-pointer by senior guard Devin Kearns (Cibolo, Texas/Samuel Clemens) extended the lead to 81-62 with 6:21 to go in the contest.

Kearns then ended the run with a contested jumper at the rim to push the lead to 21 (83-62), as the Generals cruised the rest of the way for the 91-77 win.

Dennin led the Blue and White with 17 points on 7-of-10 from the floor to go with four rebounds and two assists. He was also a game-best +35 in the plus/minus report in 27:18 of action. Mitchell totaled a career-best 16 points, four rebounds and four blocks.

Senior forward Roy McMillan (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) had 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists. With the 14 points, he pushed his career total to 994, and with six more points, he will become the 27th player in program history to reach 1,000 points.

Kearns notched 14 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals, and sophomore guard William Brueggeman (Houston, Texas/Strake Jesuit College Prep) registered 12 points.

W&L shot 54.7 percent (25-of-64) from the field and 44.4 percent (12-of-27) from long range. E&H finished the night 9-of-17 (52.9 percent) from downtown and 29-of-65 (44.6 percent) from the field, but could not overcome 20 turnovers.
