FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its 2025-26 all-conference teams and major award winners on Thursday, and Washington and Lee was well-represented with two awardees and two all-conference selections.
Senior
Colin Ryan was named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar Athlete of the Year, while first-year
Addison Newkirk was tabbed Rookie of the Year. Sophomore
Connor Amorosi placed on the All-ODAC First Team, and Ryan added a third team nod to his season.
Ryan turned in another strong season on the court with averages of 9.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. He led the ODAC in both assists per game and total assists (128) this season, while also posting the second-best assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3) in the league. Ryan's rebounding average was good for 12th in the ODAC.
Ryan has also excelled in his academic endeavors at W&L, as he becomes the first W&L men's basketball player to pick up the Scholar Athlete of the Year award since Nicholas George '18 did so for the 2017-18 season. A business administration and economics double-major, Ryan has achieved W&L Scholar Athlete status in all seven terms, he has been named to the ODAC All-Academic Team three times and collected College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court accolades, as well.
Newkirk makes it two years in a row that W&L has had the league's top rookie after Amorosi was honored last season. Newkirk ranked third on the Generals this season in scoring average (9.3), while he led the team in rebounds per game (7.2). He finished his first collegiate season tied for fifth in the ODAC in rebounding average, and he eclipsed double-digit rebounds three times this season, with a high of 15 on January 3 at Guilford.
After making the All-ODAC Third Team a season ago, Amorosi was upgraded to a first team player season after ranking sixth in the ODAC in scoring (16.5). Amorosi shot 45.5 percent (145-319) from the floor and was nearly as efficient from long range at 43.2 percent (32-74). With additional averages of 4.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game, Amorosi reached 20 points in eight games this season, which included a high of 27 against Kenyon on December 30.
The Generals wrapped up the 2025-26 season with an overall record of 17-9, which marked a 10-win improvement from a season ago. W&L earned the No. 6 seed for the ODAC Tournament behind a 9-7 conference record, before bowing out in the quarterfinal round.
