LEXINGTON, Va. – The 13th-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team defeated eighth-seeded Hollins, 5-0, in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at the W&L Upper Tennis Courts.
The Generals dropped just five total games en route to sweeping the doubles competition for a 3-0 lead. The Generals then closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles by sophomore Tessa Hill (Canton, Ohio / Jackson) and a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles by first-year Lauren Hassell (Mendham, N.J. / West Morris Mendham).
With the victory, W&L improves to 18-5 overall. Hollins ends its season with a 6-13 overall record.
Washington and Lee will return to action on Saturday in the ODAC semifinals, which will be hosted by Randolph-Macon. The Generals will take on fourth-seeded Bridgewater at a time to be determined.
