Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – The fourth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team had 10 different players score en route to posting a 19-4 triumph over Virginia Wesleyan in ODAC action on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
Senior midfielder Olivia Sisson (Great Falls, Va. / Langley) spotted the Generals an early 3-0 lead with a trio of scores by the 26:28 mark of the first half. Sophomore midfielder Cordelia Peters (Larkspur, Calif. / Hotchkiss School) added a pair of goals herself in the first half, as W&L carried a 13-1 lead into the intermission.
Sophomore attacker Maddy Graves (Cos Cob, Conn. / Greenwich) opened the second half scoring at the 23:21 mark, totaling two goals total in the second half. First-year midfielder Carson Pinney (Richmond, Va. / Collegiate School) also tallied two goals in the final 30 minutes, while junior midfielder Mimi MacCowatt (New Vernon, N.J. / Kent Place School) had one goal and one assist in the second stanza.
W&L held an 18-5 advantage in draw controls and outshot VWC, 33-6. The Generals also held a 29-25 edge in ground balls.
Sisson finished with a game-high four goals, while Pinney recorded three. MacCowatt totaled two goals and two assists, Graves chipped in two goals and an assist, and sophomore midfielder Cordelia Peters (Larkspur, Calif. / Hotchkiss) finished with two goals. First-year attacker Collette Murray (Manhasset, N.Y. / Manhasset) chipped in three assists.
First-year goalkeeper Elliot Gilbert (Bedford, N.Y. / Deerfield Academy), and juniors Hannah Wiltshire (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) and Harleigh Bean (Upper Marlboro, Md. / Episcopal) all played in goal and combined for two saves for the Generals.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alexis Pulliam played the majority in goal for the Marlins and made six saves, while sophomore Jordan Callahan made one stop in eight minutes of action. Junior midfielder Megan Schallock scored two goals to lead the VWC offense.
W&L returns to action on April 1, when it travels to Lynchburg for a 1:00 pm contest.
