Shenandoah Defeats No. 21 W&L Women's Soccer, 1-0

LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior midfielder Danielle Burris (Cooksville, Md. / Glenelg) tallied the game-winning goal in the 27th minute to lift the Shenandoah women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over 21st-ranked Washington and Lee on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.

Burris scored on a breakaway when she beat senior goalkeeper Addie Healy (Waterford, Va. / Woodgrove) at the 26:58 mark. The Hornets (7-6, 4-1) held onto the lead through the remainder of the contest to pull off the victory.

For the game, W&L (9-3, 5-2) held a 12-11 edge in shots and a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Healy played all 90 minutes in net for the Generals and recorded four saves. Junior goalie Erin Septer (Hamilton, N.J. / West) also played the entire match and totaled five saves for the Hornets. Shenandoah also posted one team save.

W&L returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Virginia Wesleyan to take on the Marlins for a 7:00 pm contest.
