No. 2 Generals overwhelm Randolph-Macon at home

LEXINGTON, Va. – The second-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team scored three goals in both halves to roll past Randolph-Macon, 6-0, on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Junior Maren Brown got her first start of the season and quickly put the Generals (12-0-2, 7-0-1 ODAC) up two goals with scores in the fifth and 12th minutes, both from close range on centering passes from senior Emily Burke and junior Megan Zimmerman, respectively.
  • Senior Amelia Manke pushed the lead to three in the 29th minute when she scored at the right post on a centering feed inside the six from first-year Sydney Valentine, before Zimmerman blasted home her 11th goal of the season just 39 seconds into the second half.
  • Junior Elizabeth Zimmerman then got on the board in the 59th minute, with Burke picking up her second assist of the game on the play, before sophomore McKenna Reh capped the scoring in the 78th minute.
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Brown added an assist on the M. Zimmerman goal to lead the team with five points in the game. Burke finished with two assists, while M. Zimmerman had a goal and an assist to round out the top offensive performances.
