Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 2 Women’s Soccer closes season against Bridgewater, secures ODAC top seed

LEXINGTON, Va. – The second-ranked Washington and Lee women's soccer team fell in the 2026 regular season finale, 1-0, against Bridgewater on Wednesday night, but still secured the ODAC regular season title and tournament top seed.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Eagles (12-3-2, 7-1-2 ODAC) got their goal early when a Lily Hewatt shot from the right side was saved by junior Kate McEnroe, but Laura Narby was positioned well for the rebound and put the ball into the back of the net.
  • The Generals (13-1-2, 8-1-1 ODAC) shut out the Bridgewater offense from the 12th minute until halftime, as the Blue and White offense and defense kept the ball away from the Eagles. W&L took 13 shots in the first half, including the final 12 total shots from either team, with five attempts going on goal.
  • W&L continued its strong possession in the second half, allowing three shots once more while taking another 13 shots. The Eagles reduced the number of threatening chances in the second half, allowing just two shots on goal, which BC keeper Erinn Lockard was able to stop.
TOP PERFORMERS:
  • Narby's goal for the Eagles was her 10th of the season, with Hewatt getting the assist on the play. Narby took a team-high four shots and put two on goal.
  • Senior Emily Burke paced the W&L offense with five shots, while juniors Elizabeth Zimmerman and Maren Brown both took four.
  • Lockard ended the game with seven saves in the Bridgewater goal to earn the shutout, while McEnroe made three stops in the game.
ODAC TOURNAMENT OUTLOOK:
  • The Generals entered the night having already earned the ODAC's top seed after Lynchburg and Batten played to a draw on Tuesday evening. W&L now has three straight ODAC regular season titles.
  • Lynchburg will be the ODAC's No. 2 seed, followed by Batten and Bridgewater to round out the teams who will host in the quarterfinal round.
  • Randolph will travel to W&L as the No. 8 seed, Roanoke is No. 7 at Lynchburg, Shenandoah is No. 6 at Batten and Randolph-Macon rounds out the matchups as the No. 5 at Bridgewater.
TEAM STATS:
  • After taking 13 shots in both halves, the Generals finished the game with a 26-7 advantage in total attempts. Shots on goal also favored the Blue and White, 7-4.
  • W&L took 12 corner kicks in the game, including eight in the second half, and conceded two.
UP NEXT:
The Generals will host eighth-seeded Randolph in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 ODAC Championship on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. W&L claimed the regular season matchup against the WildCats by a 6-0 score in Lynchburg on September 26.
