LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's soccer team used three goals in the second half to pull well ahead of Greensboro, defeating the Pride, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at Watt Field.

With the win, the Generals are now 9-2-1 on the year and hold a three-game winning streak, while GC falls to 5-7 overall.

In the 22nd minute, junior midfielder Alexis Blight (Columbia, Md./McDonogh) scored the Generals' first goal of the contest, giving W&L a 1-0 lead. After a Generals' corner kick was deflected off a GC defender, Blight took the opportunity to head an air-born ball.

The score remained at 1-0 going into halftime.

W&L used the second half to increase their lead over GC, as three more goals were recorded in the final 45:00.

Sophomore forward Katherine Rush (Cornelius, N.C./Providence Day School) continued to be a dominant scorer on the field with two tallies in the second half. Her first came in the 46th minute, when she broke away from two GC defenders and won a one-on-one battle with Pride first-year goalkeeper Jessica Thatcher (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point) to give the Generals a 2-0 advantage.

Rush then registered W&L's fourth goal of the game at the 59:28 mark. Sophomore midfielder Emily Scott (Port Murray, N.J./West Morris Central) sent a cross from the left, which landed in the feet of Rush and allowed her to head in the nine-yard shot.

Sophomore midfielder Katie Rossi (Wyoming, Del./Caesar Rodney) netted the Generals' third goal of the matchup with the game time at 48:45. Rossi bypassed through Pride defenders in the box to set up the eight-yard shot and goal.

W&L continued to stop the offensive advances by Greensboro and claimed the 4-0 win over the Pride.

In net for the Blue and White was first-year Addie Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove), who stopped four shots while playing the entire 90:00.

Sophomore Shireen Unvala (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson West) and Thatcher split time in goal for GC. Unvala tallied one save and one goal-against in the first 21:46 and Thatcher collected one save and three goals-against in the remaining 68:14.

The Generals return to the pitch on Wednesday, when they travel to Shenandoah for a 7:00 pm contest.
