Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. – Washington and Lee closed the first half
with a 20-4 run en route to posting a 67-50 victory over Randolph
College in women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the
RAD Center.
Sparked by seven points from senior guard Meg Ingram (Greensboro,
N.C./Ragsdale) in the opening 7:39 of the game, the Generals (6-8,
4-5) jumped out to an early 13-1 lead. Randolph (3-9, 0-7)
cut it to a seven-point game (16-9) at the 7:28 mark, but seven
points by junior forward Katy Wilson (Chattanooga,
Tenn./Baylor) and six each from Ingram and senior forward Becca Bolton (Pittsboro,
N.C./Chatham Central) in the final seven minutes and change gave
W&L a commanding 36-13 lead at the halftime break.
W&L extended its lead to 45-16 just 3:43 into the second
half and cruised the rest of the way, carrying at least a 17-point
advantage the rest of the way.
Ingram paced four Generals in double figures with a game-high 20
points, four assists and three steals. Bolton finished with
16 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while Wilson posted 13
points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Junior forward Rachel Warrick
(Herndon, Va./Langley) chipped in 10 points and five rebounds,
shooting 8-of-10 from the foul line.
The WildCats were led by sophomore guard Courtney Bouchard's
nine points and eight points apiece from first-year forward Jensen
Hoover and junior guard Olivia Johnson. Hoover grabbed nine
rebounds and Johnson snared eight boards.
Washington and Lee will return to action next Saturday when it
travels to Eastern Mennonite for a 2:00 pm contest.
