Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. – Visiting Greensboro College recorded two
goals in the second half as it defeated the Washington and Lee
women's soccer team, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Watt
Field.
Just 26 seconds into the second half Greensboro (4-2) first-year
forward Mary Randolph (Bowie, Md./Bowie) recorded GC's first
goal of the match as she directed a shot that bounced over the head
of W&L (2-2) junior keeper Emily Leary for a 1-0 lead. The
Pride added their second goal of the match in the 78th
minute, an unassisted marker from sophomore midfielder Meredith
Kelly (Snow Camp, N.C./Southern Alamance), to secure the 2-0
victory.
W&L led GC in both shots, 16-4, and corner kicks, 7-1, for
the contest.
Leary played all 90 minutes in net, allowing two goals while not
recording a save. GC senior netminder Katie Allegro (Statesville,
N.C./West Iredell) also played the duration, stopping nine
shots.
W&L returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to
Randolph College for a 6:00 pm contest.
