Box Score

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The 14th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team forced 29 Guilford turnovers and jumped out to a 10-1 lead as the Generals topped the Quakers, 15-4, in ODAC action on Tuesday afternoon at Armfield Athletic Center.

The Generals (10-4, 7-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the opening 23 minutes of the game on the strength of a hat trick from junior attacker Britten Mathews (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) before the Quakers got on board at the 6:17 mark. W&L added another goal when sophomore midfielder Emmy Mathews (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) scored on a free-postion shot to give the Generals a 7-1 advantage at the break. Washington and Lee then outscored Guilford, 8-3, in the second half, including another goal from Britten Mathews and a pair from senior attacker Katie Flippen (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) en route to the 11-goal triumph.

The Blue and White were led by Flippen and Britten Mathews, who totaled four goals apiece. Emmy Mathews netted three goals, while junior attacker Meredith Freeman (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS) and senior midfielder Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) notched one goal and dished out two assists each. Sophomore goalkeeper Katharine Farrar (Lexington, Va./Episcopal) and first-year Jennifer Linder (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) split time between the pipes and combined to stop eight would-be goals for W&L.
