LEXINGTON, Va. - Sophomore midfielder Emmy Mathews (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) totaled four goals and three assists as the seventh-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team cruised to a 16-3 victory over Bridgewater in ODAC women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at the W&L Turf Field.

The Generals (3-0, 1-0) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the opening 14:28 of the contest, including two goals from Mathews and junior attacker Meredith Freeman (St. Louis, Mo./MICDS), to take a 10-2 advantage at the break. Eight other W&L players added to the scoring column as the Blue and White soared to the 13-goal triumph.

Mathews' performance was supplemented by Freeman, first-year attacker Maddie McKaig (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and senior attacker Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown), who notched two goals and dished out one assist each. Sophomore attacker Wilton Megargel (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield) recorded two goals, while senior attacker Katie Flippen (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) chipped in one goal and two assists. Sophomore Katharine Farrar (Lexington, Va./Episcopal) and first-year Jennifer Linder (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) split time in goal and combined to stop 10 shots.

The Eagles (0-2, 0-1) were led by first-year midfielder Mary Robinson's (Emmitsburg, Md./Catoctin) two goals. Sophomore midfielder Leslie Crawford (Myersville, Md./Middletown) added one goal and one assist, while junior goalkeeper Colleen Schwind (Annandale, Va./Falls Church) played the entire 60:00 and recorded 11 saves.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Saturday as it hosts No. 3 Franklin & Marshall for a 1:00 pm contest.
