W&L Men's Basketball Tops Goucher, 75-59

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior forward Zac White (Baltimore, Md./Park School) led three Generals in double figures with 14 points and W&L out-rebounded Goucher, 34-20, in winning its third-straight game with a 75-59 decision over the Gophers on Monday evening at the Warner Center.

Senior forward Kirk Jones (Maple Glenn, Pa./Germantown Academy) scored a season-high 12 points off the bench and added a team-high six rebounds, four offensive, as the Generals won for the seventh time in their last eight games.

Leading by six at the break (36-30), W&L pushed its lead to 12 points (44-32) on a layup by senior guard Isaiah Goodman (Richfield, Minn./Holy Angels) at the 17:02 mark. Following a Goucher (1-8) timeout, the Gophers cut the lead to nine (46-37) at the 14:53 mark, but that would be as close as the Gophers would get the rest of the way as the Generals pulled away for the win.

Washington and Lee shot an even 50 percent for the game (26-of-52) and received 34 points from its bench. W&L also shot a season high 81.8 percent from the free-throw line (18-of-22), while Goucher connected on just 11 of its 20 free throw attempts.

In addition to his 14 points, White grabbed five rebounds and was a perfect 7-of-7 at the line. Senior guard Chris McHugh (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) added 10 points and a game-high five assists.

Goucher was led by senior guard Darrin Boswell III's (Nottingham, Md./Joppatowne) game-high 16 points. Junior forward Reginald Suggs (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook) added 12 points and senior center Amir Hakim (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) chipped in 11.

The Generals return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Eastern Mennonite for a 7:00 pm contest.
