HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. - Senior designated hitter Tim Livingston (Los Angeles, Calif./Santa Monica) batted 3-for-5 with a double and six RBI as the Washington and Lee baseball team picked up come-from-behind win over Hampden-Sydney, 11-10, on Wednesday afternoon at Yank Bernier Field.

The Tigers (16-22, 9-7) led 8-1 after six innings before the Generals' bats came alive. W&L began its comeback in the top of the seventh, plating three runs, including a two-run single from Livingston, to cut the H-SC edge to 8-4. The Tigers would score a run in the bottom of the ensuing frame to extend their lead to 9-4, but the Generals racked up four runs in the top of the eighth, aided by a three-run double from Livingston, to make it a one-run contest (9-8) entering the final inning.

The Generals completed their rally in the top of the ninth as junior second baseman Byron Peyster's (Washington, D.C./Maret) RBI single tied the contest (9-9) and Livingston's RBI single gave the W&L its first lead of the game (10-9). Freshman leftfielder Anthony Cardona (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Chestnut Hill) provided another run for the Blue and White with an RBI double. The Tigers managed one run in the bottom of the ninth, but sophomore righthander Jim Plantholt (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) recorded the final three outs of the game to secure the win.

Livingston's day at the plate was complemented by Peyster, who hit 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI. Cardona had two hits in four at-bats with a double and two RBI. Senior lefthander Jeff Pharis (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) picked up the win (2-1) as he hurled the eighth inning and allowed just two hits and one earned run. Plantholt was credited with the save, after tossing the final inning and allowing no hits and no earned runs.

H-SC was led by third baseman Daniel Prieto, who batted 2-for-4 with three RBI, and rightfielder Hank Toledano, who tallied two hits in five at-bats with a homerun and two RBI. Designated hitter Ben Brawley batted 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Daniel Hadra was saddled with the loss after giving up three hits in just 1.1 innings of work.

W&L (19-8, 9-6) returns to the diamond on Thursday when it hosts Southern Virginia at 3:00 pm.
