LEXINGTON, Va.— Junior attacker Katie Flippen (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) notched three goals and junior midfielder Colleen Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) dished out four assists to lead the sixth-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team to a 14-1 victory over Lynchburg on Tuesday afternoon at Watt Field.
The Generals (14-1, 7-0) opened the contest with 10 unanswered goals from six different players en route to a 10-0 halftime lead as they cruised to the 13-goal victory.
Flippen and Evans' efforts were supplemented by senior attacker Christine Bender (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), who tallied two goals. Junior attacker Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) added one goal and three assists, while sophomore attacker Britten Mathews (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) chipped in one goal and two assists. Senior Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and freshman Katharine Farrar (Lexington, Va./Episcopal) shared time in goal and combined to stop 10 shots.
The Hornets (7-8, 2-5) were led by sophomore midfielder Katie Ollice (West Chester, Pa./West Chester), who registered LC's lone goal. Freshman Emma Lippert (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) and freshman Ashley Stern (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) split time between the pipes and combined to register four saves.
Washington and Lee returns to ODAC-action on Friday as it travels to Virginia Wesleyan for a 3:00 pm game.
