BRIDGEWATER, Va. -- Sophomore attacker Britten Mathews (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) notched six goals and two assists to lead the No. 7 Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team to a 20-3 victory over Bridgewater on Wednesday afternoon at Mapp Field.
Mathews scored four goals in the opening 19:59 of the game as W&L opened up a 12-1 halftime lead. Six other Generals added to the scoring column as the Blue and White cruised to the 17-goal victory.
Mathews' performance was supplemented by junior midfielder Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./West Chester) and senior attacker Laura Henson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster), who notched three goals apiece. Henson also chipped in two assists. Junior attacker Colleen Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbrige) and freshman midfielder Wilton Megargel (Charlottesville, Va./St. Anne's-Belfield) registered two goals each. Senior Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and freshman Katharine Farrar (Lexington, Va./Episcopal) split time in goal. Tilbor stopped four shots.
BC (2-3, 0-3) had three different players notch goals on the afternoon. Junior attacker Lindsay Snyder, freshman midfielder Leslie Crawford and senior midfielder Sarah Wade each registered a goal.
Washington and Lee (5-1, 2-0) returns to action on Saturday as it hosts No. 13 Mary Washington at 1:00 pm.
