LEXINGTON, Va. – Freshman leftfielder Anthony Cardona (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Chestnut Hill) combined to hit 6-for-7 with two RBI and senior rightfielder James Madden (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) batted 5-for-7 with seven RBI over two games as the Washington and Lee baseball team swept Emory & Henry on Saturday afternoon at Cap'n Dick Smith Field. The Generals won the first contest, 12-0, and the nightcap, 18-0, to improve to 7-2 overall (2-0 ODAC).

With the wins, W&L head coach Jeff Stickley notched his 300th career win with the Generals. Over 22 seasons, Stickley owns a career mark of 300-297-4 (.502).

In the first game, the Generals put up single runs in the first and third innings to take and 2-0 lead entering the top of fourth. W&L then racked up six runs, including a two-run single by senior right hander pitcher and designated hitter Tim Livingston (Los Angeles, Calif./Santa Monica), in the bottom of the fourth to take an 8-0 edge en route to the 12-0 victory.

Livingston (3-0) had one hit in four at-bats along with two RBI and threw 5.0 innings of two-hit shutout ball to go along with five strikeouts. Sophomore catcher Will Lewis (Columbia, S.C./A.C. Flora) totaled four RBI on 1-for-3 hitting, while Madden was 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBI. Junior centerfielder Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) was 2-for-4 with a two-run roundtripper.

In the second game, W&L totaled three runs in the first, aided by a two-run long ball by Madden, and then added three runs in the second with the help of a two-run triple by Madden to take the early 6-0 lead and cruise to the 18-0 win.

Madden hit 3-for-5 with a triple, a homerun and five RBI, while Cardona was 4-for-5 with a double, a triple and two RBI. McKelvey registered three hits in five at-bats with a double, a triple, a homerun and one RBI. Sophomore right handed pitcher Chuck Davidson (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) picked up the win (3-0) after pitching seven innings and allowing just five hits and no earned runs and tallying seven strikeouts.

E&H's (4-8) freshman right hander Codie Mitchell (Linville, Va./Broadway) was saddled with loss in the first game, after he tossed four innings and allowed eight hits and seven earned runs. Senior left handed pitcher George Harrington (Manassas, Va./Osbourn) took the game-two loss, surrendering 11 hits and 10 earned runs in three innings of work.

W&L (7-2) returns to action on Sunday for a doubleheader with Southern Vermont. Game one is scheduled to begin at noon.
