LEXINGTON, Va. – Washington and Lee senior forward Anne Van Devender (Jackson, Miss./Choate Rosemary Hall) tallied two goals and two assists to lead the Generals' women's soccer team to a 5-0 win over Guilford on Saturday afternoon at Watt Field.
Van Devender opened the scoring just 1:55 into the game as she found the net unassisted. She then assisted on a goal by first-year forward Kat Barnes (Charlotte, N.C./Myers Park) at the 3:53 mark and again scored unassisted just 25 seconds later for a 3-0 W&L lead just 4:18 into the game.
Senior defender Marisa Van Brunt (Sayville, N.Y./Sayville) gave W&L a 4-0 lead at the break when she scored off a Van Devender assist in the 35th minute. Junior midfielder Roz Klann (Denver, Colo./George Washington) capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 63rd minute.
Senior Kiki Moreo (Westport, Conn./Staples) started in goal and recorded one save in 65:54. First-year Emily Leary (Loveland, Ohio/King's) played the final 24:06 and notched a pair of stops. First-year Kat Adams made her first career start in goal for Guilford (7-11, 5-5), playing all 90 minutes and posting 13 saves.
Washington and Lee (11-4, 8-2) returns to action on Wednesday as it travels to Bridgewater for a 4:00 pm contest.
