LEXINGTON, Va. – Nine different Generals scored as 9th-ranked Washington and Lee posted a 18-1 victory over Bridgewater in women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Watt Field.
W&L (5-1, 3-0) used eight unanswered goals in the first 16:58 of the contest and never looked back as it sailed to the 18-1 victory. The Generals were paced by sophomore attacker Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown), who registered a game-high five points (2g, 3a) and sophomore midfielder Colleen Evans' (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) quartet of assists. Freshman midfielder Natalie Herndon (Smyrna, Ga./Westminster) tallied two goals and two assists, while freshman attacker Britten Mathews (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) added three goals and one assist. Three goalkeepers saw action in between the pipes for the Generals as junior Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury), sophomore Ali Hillyard (Media, Pa./Episcopal) and freshman Eliza Van Beuren (Woodville, Va. Covenant) split the 60 minute contest.
Senior midfielder Anne Fisher (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Christian) contributed the lone score for the Eagles (1-2, 0-1) on a fast break opportunity. Freshman Colleen Schwind (Annandale, Va./Falls Church) and junior Jennifer Midgette (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury) each played a half in goal for BC. Schwind amassed no saves, while Midgette totaled four stops.
The Generals return to the field on Saturday when they travel to Fredericksburg, Va., to take on 11th-ranked Mary Washington at 2:00 pm.
