SALEM, Va. – Sophomore attacker Kelsi Robinson (West Chester, Pa./Westtown) tallied two goals and two assists as the 11th-ranked Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team opened Old Dominion Athletic Conference action with an 11-4 win over Roanoke on Wednesday afternoon.
Roanoke's Amanda Hutchins registered the first score of the contest at 28:54, but the Generals responded with five-straight goals, including two from Robinson, en route to taking a 5-2 lead into the half.
The Maroons (0-1, 0-1) rallied to cut the Generals' lead to 6-4 with 17:33 remaining in the contest, but the Blue and White closed the game with five unanswered scores to cruise to the 11-4 final.
The Generals (3-0, 1-0) were paced by Robinson and freshman attacker Britten Matthews' (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) three goals. Sophomore attacker Katie Flippen (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) added a pair of scores, senior midfielder Kelly Evans (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) had one goal and one assist and senior attacker Avery Lovejoy (Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) tallied two helpers.
Junior Sarah Tilbor (West Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) and sophomore Ali Hillyard (Media, Pa./Episcopal) split time in the goal for W&L. Tilbor made five saves, while Hillyard notched one save. Katlyn Scarlett played all 60 minutes between the pipes for Maroons, stopping 10 would-be scores.
The Generals return to the field on Saturday when they host Randolph-Macon at 2:00 pm at Watt Field.
