LEXINGTON, Va. – The Washington and Lee women's basketball team set a new program record for wins in a season, collecting its 14th victory with an 82-67 triumph over Emory & Henry on Friday evening at the Warner Center.
In the win, junior forward Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) tallied 14 points en route to becoming the seventh General in program history to record 1,000 career points (1,010). Additionally, senior center Jessica Hunsinger (Mayer, Ariz./Orme School) snared seven rebounds to surpass Guilford's Laura Haynes '98 (1,021) as the ODAC's all-time leading rebounder (1,022).
W&L (14-10, 10-9) jumped out to a 12-point lead (20-8) with 13:13 remaining in the first half and maintained a 42-27 advantage at the break. The Wasps (8-17,4-16) got as close as 11 points on two occasions in the second half, but could not get any closer down the stretch.
Washington and Lee shot a season-high 50.0 percent from the floor (32-64), including hitting 8-of-16 (.500) from beyond the arc.
Junior forward Amanda Kane (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) paced five Generals in double-digits with a career-high 17 points and six rebounds. Junior guard Emily Wolff (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) also established a new career-high with 16 points and tied her career-high with seven assists. Krouchick and Hunsinger both added 14 points. Krouchick also dished out a career-high nine assists and grabbed seven boards, while Hunsinger tallied four blocks. Senior guard Sarah Otey (Williamsburg, Va./Hampton-Roads) rounded out the double-figure scorers with a season-high 12 points.
Emory & Henry was led by freshman forward Alex Lyons' (Bristol, Tenn./Tennessee) 18 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Sarah Petty (White Bluff, Tenn./Creek Wood) totaled 14 points, while freshman guard Baylie Snyder (Galax, Va./Galax) registered 11 points
W&L concludes its regular season on Saturday as it hosts Lynchburg at 5:00 pm at the Warner Center.
