STAUNTON, Va.-- Washington and Lee senior guard Kristen Krouchick (Holland, Pa./Nazareth Academy) tallied a season-high 21 points, including the go-ahead layup with 57 seconds remaining to help lead the Generals to a 62-59 victory over Mary Baldwin in women's basketball on Tuesday evening.

Mary Baldwin (3-1) jumped out to 9-0 lead in the opening 4:10 of the game and stretched the advantage to 14 points (19-5) at the 11:57 mark. However, the Generals managed to cut it to a two-point game at the half (28-26).

The Blue and White (1-3) chipped away at the Squirrels' lead early in the second stanza and took its first lead of the game, 37-34, at the 14:32 mark. The second half featured 11 lead changes and eight ties, the final tie coming on MBC senior guard Jessica Carter's three free throws that knotted the game at 59-59 with 1:11 remaining. Krouchick then hit the go-ahead layup and added a late free throw for the final margin.

Krouchick also grabbed nine rebounds for the Generals, while sophomore center Kaitlin Kamp (Bloomington, Minn./Lutheran) tied a career-high with 15 points and grabbed a season-high seven boards. Senior forward Amanda Kane (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) also chipped in 10 points.

Carter tallied 21 points and six steals and was 7-of-8 from the foul line, while junior guard Christie Hamilton racked up nine points and 12 rebounds for the Squirrels.

Washington and Lee returns to action on Friday as it hosts 22nd-ranked Randolph-Macon for a 7:00 pm game.
